It may be months away, but the wheels are already turning to kick off this year’s New York Comedy Festival. The week-long festival takes over NYC, offering everything from TV show Q&A’s to curated showcases to improv and of course, stand-up. Returning for a sixth year, the festival, along with Carolines Comedy Club, is producing New York’s Funniest Stand-Up Competition. Open to just about anyone, the contest will crown one winner who gets a cash prize, chance to open for a headliner at Carolines on Broadway, and a coveted spot to perform on one of the major Festival shows. The deadline for submissions is September 17.
